Why Chamomile and Green Tea Are Secretly Superherbs You've Been Missing Out On!
Effects on Metabolism and Chronic Stress!
I never believed how I missed out on two powerful "super herbs" that I never gave much thought to: chamomile and green tea. As it turned out, these herbal teas have been around for centuries and have been consumed by many cultures for their numerous health benefits.
So why are chamomile and green tea considered "secret super herbs”? Perhaps these teas are often overlooked compared to other popular herbal remedies like turmeric or ginger. And now, with modern research and studies backing up their health benefits, it's time to give these two "superherbs" the recognition they deserve.
As a metabolic expert, I have seen firsthand the positive effects of chamomile and green tea on overall health and well-being.
This post has reasons why these two teas are truly "super herbs" that you should start incorporating into your daily routine. Before we look at them, let’s first understand these herbs.

What is Green Tea?
Green tea is a type of tea that is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. It originated in China but has become popular worldwide, particularly in Asian countries like Japan and Korea.
History of Green Tea
The history of green tea can be traced back to ancient China, where it was first discovered and used for medicinal purposes. Legend has it that Emperor Shennong, a Chinese emperor and herbalist, accidentally discovered the tea when a leaf from the Camellia sinensis plant fell into his pot of hot water. He found the resulting drink refreshing and energizing, leading him to research green tea's properties and potential benefits.
Here are some health benefits of green tea.
Green Tea: A Metabolism-Booster
Green tea is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols that can help boost your metabolism, increasing fat burning and weight loss.
An interesting study by I-Ju Chen and colleagues examined the effects of high-dose green tea extract on weight reduction in women with central obesity. The study was double-blind, meaning neither the researchers nor the participants knew which group they were in. This helps to eliminate any biases that could affect the results.
The study involved 115 women who were screened, and 102 of them met the criteria for inclusion. These women were randomly divided into two groups: one received a high-dose green tea extract and the other received a placebo. The participants took their assigned treatment for 12 weeks.
The results showed that the group who received high-dose green tea extract experienced significant weight loss, reduced waist circumference, and lower levels of total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol without any side effects.
Additionally, the levels of ghrelin (a hormone that can increase appetite) were lower in this group, while the levels of adiponectin (a hormone associated with metabolism) were higher.
This study suggests that high-dose green tea extract may be a safe and effective way to reduce weight and improve lipid profiles in women with central obesity. This could be related to suppressing ghrelin, leading to increased adiponectin levels.
Let’s find out how to lower chronic stress with green tea.
