The Thermalist Education
The world's first - and only - science backed education in thermal therapy: For single instructors as well as spa and fitness.
Dear Everyone - Dear upcoming Thermalist Instructors!
I'm thrilled to announce a significant milestone in my journey. The online Thermalist Education is now live on my new website www.soeberginstitute.com.
The goal for the Thermalist Education is to offer science-backed knowledge and training to instructors, students, practitioners, spas, clinics and fitness owners. The aim is to furnish them with protocols and expertise, enabling them to make significant contributions to improving people's health and well-being while actively participating in the prevention of lifestyle diseases.
I recognize that the world has faced physical and mental challenges since the pandemic. I share the collective desire for a better world and future for ourselves and the next generations.
The Mission Behind The Thermalist Education and Programs
Through the Thermalist Education and associated programs, the goal is to empower and enhance the knowledge and skills of trainers, students, and professionals in the spa and fitness industry. I aim to bridge the divide between modern science, wellness and fitness, aspiring to create a world with reduced stress and fewer lifestyle diseases.
For a glimpse into the education, you can watch a preview below. Visit the website for comprehensive details on the education content, along with information about becoming a Thermalist Instructor and joining our educational community.

The Triple Play for Optimal Health
Cold Water Immersion, Sauna, and Healthy Breathing - The Three Pillars Explored in The Educational Program.
Why do I remain dedicated to these forms of exercise and advocate for them? Because, in the right proportions, they possess the unique ability to repair and reset our stressed bodies and minds, rivaling the benefits of traditional exercise. These diverse fitness modalities work synergistically, standing out as the ideal combination for mitigating inflammation and counteracting the effects of chronic stress.
In the pursuit of comprehensive health, individuals are increasingly embracing ancient practices that tap into the potential of natural elements. Cold water immersion, sauna sessions, and mindful breathing are emerging as a trinity of activities that contribute to overall well-being.
To explore the specifics of each module, visit SOEBERG INSTITUTE.
Below, I share some of the key benefits derived from incorporating cold exposure, heat therapy, and mindful breathing techniques into your routine.
Module 1 in the Thermalist Education
Cold Exposure and contrast therapy: Some of the Benefits…
Enhanced Immune Response: Research suggests that exposure to cold water stimulates the immune system, leading to an increase in disease-fighting white blood cells. Daily cold showers or plunges have been linked to improved immune function, potentially bolstering the body's defenses against infections.
Optimized Metabolism: Cold exposure induces a metabolic boost as the body works to generate heat. This heightened metabolic rate, increased energy expenditure, clearing glucose from the bloodstream and supporting overall metabolic health.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Cold therapy has been shown to reduce inflammation by activating pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines and heat shock proteins. These proteins aid in proper protein folding, mitigating inflammation-related issues and promoting cellular health.
Activation of Brown Fat: Brown adipose tissue (BAT), also known as brown fat, is a type of fat tissue that generates heat by burning calories. Exposure to cold conditions, such as in contrast therapy, can activate brown fat. When brown fat is activated, it utilizes glucose and fatty acids to generate heat, contributing to increased energy expenditure.
Enhanced Cellular Function: The stressors from hot and cold exposures activate cellular stress response pathways. This activation can lead to the production of heat shock proteins and other cellular adaptations that contribute to cellular health. Healthy functioning cells are more efficient in carrying out metabolic processes.
Improved Insulin Sensitivity: Studies show that thermal therapy, including both heat and cold exposure, may improve insulin sensitivity. Enhanced insulin sensitivity means that cells respond more effectively to insulin, which plays a crucial role in glucose metabolism and energy regulation.
Module 2 in the Thermalist Education
Heat Exposure: Some of the Benefits…
Heat Shock Proteins and Cellular Metabolism: Sauna exposure induces the production of heat shock proteins (HSPs), which play a role in cellular protection and repair. These proteins assist in maintaining the proper folding of cellular proteins, reducing the impact of stress and inflammation on cells. This cellular maintenance can positively influence metabolic processes.
Detoxification: Saunas induce sweating, a natural process that helps the body eliminate toxins and heavy metals. This detoxification mechanism may contribute to clearer skin and improved overall health.
Cardiovascular Health: Regular sauna use has been associated with improved cardiovascular function. The heat promotes blood vessel dilation, enhances blood flow, and contribute to lower blood pressure over time.
Stress Reduction: Sauna sessions offer a sanctuary for relaxation. The heat prompts the release of endorphins, the body's natural stress relievers, fostering a sense of calm and well-being.
Module 3 in the Thermalist Education
The power of healthy breathing: Some of the Benefits…
Stress Reduction and Mindfulness: Mindful breathing techniques, such as deep diaphragmatic breathing, are effective in reducing stress and promoting mindfulness. These practices contribute to mental clarity and emotional well-being.
Improved Lung Function: Conscious breathing exercises enhance lung capacity and respiratory efficiency. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with respiratory conditions and those looking to optimize athletic performance.
Balanced Autonomic Nervous System: Mindful breathing helps balance the autonomic nervous system, fostering equilibrium between the sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) branches. This balance is crucial for overall health and resilience.
Healthy breathing techniques for different purposes: Healthy breathing techniques serve various purposes and can be tailored to specific needs. These needs can be for energy boost, increased focus, for mental clarity, for better sleep, to lower stress acutely etc.
